A Message from our President
Families, Friends, and Future Riding Partners;
Just a quick note to share my excitement about 2009! We here at the Cascade Family Motorcycle Club (CFMC) have many exciting things on our plate for 2009. After much soul searching we are cutting back on our NMA events this year. Still with two scheduled NMA events, monthly club member events, hundreds of hours of trail maintenance planned, and a strong desire to "just go have fun riding!" we will be very busy this year.
Even though we are cutting back from four events to two we will be working as hard as ever to put on amazing off road events. We are moving our flagship event, the Black Bear Enduro from late in the year (typically November) to June 21st for 2009. Make sure you mark this change on your calendars. Last year we tried something new and it was met with great success - we put on our first ISDE event, the Grizzly ISDE. We learned a ton and are very excited about building on that experience to make the Grizzly the bear that it was ment to be! We are moving the Grizzly ISDE to a little later in the year, September 20th for 2009. So mark your calendars now and be part of another record setting year!
This year's monthly club events are also very exciting. These events are for club members, prospective members, and their guests. 2009 is looking like another banner year for our events, with truly something for everyone. So if you are into "ride till you drop" come on out for Dean's Death Ride, a two-day event that covers trails you haven't heard of (and may never want to ride again!). Of course even this event has non-rider activities, an easy loop for beginners, camping, cooking out, and fun in general. The club member event calendar also includes a trip to the California Desert for a week of riding, a week long trip to Moab, UT for some off-road riding, a long weekend of camping and riding over the 4th of July, and numerous other riding and non-riding events. While the rule of thumb for our events is "everyone is responsible for their own good time" we all help where we can by crashing in front of a crowd, falling over lawn chairs, and/or providing detailed stories of things other members have done in the name of having a good time!
Our club again plans to take a leading role in giving back to the sport. We will be working very hard to strengthen our relationship with organizations like the Department of Natural Resources. I am very proud of the work our club has done in the past years and I look forward to another great year. If you are an individual that wants to give something back to the sport, contact us about our next work party. We are out there every month doing our part to make the trails safer for both the rider and the environment.
Well I better wrap this message up; I have two bikes in pieces/parts in the garage and a week long camping trip only two weeks away so I have to get off this computer and back to real work!
See you on the trails,
Gene Jackson
